Welcome to today’s motivational moment entitled, “Erase it, then replace it,” with Cynthia O.
MOTIVATION:
How do you overcome negative comments from others to and about you? Do you release them or dwell on them? Do you allow them to negatively impact your life? Do you allow them to linger in your mind? Do you allow them to cause you to think differently about yourself? Do you allow them to stop you from pursuing your goals? Do you allow them to overwrite what God says about you? Truth be told, we often allow them to do so.
So, how do you reverse their negative impact? First, realize that “hurt people, hurt other people.” The person who made the negative comment, to or about you, has been hurt and never learned how to properly deal their own hurt. So, what do they do? They hurt others in order to feel better about themselves.
You’re different, though. You want to build yourself and others up. So, overcome other’s insensitive, negative comments to and about you by giving those negative vibes their eviction notice. Make the eviction effective immediately. Remember that Proverbs 4:23 reads, “Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.”
Don’t give negativity a chance to settle in and occupy your mind’s and your heart’s valuable real estate. So, as soon as anyone makes a negative comment to or about you, rebuke it. You don’t have to say it out loud. Just whisper to yourself, “I rebuke that negative comment. Then, use your veto power to erase the negative comments. Speak life and positivity into your own life to replace the negativity. Say to yourself, “I am intelligent. I am valuable. My light shines bright in this world. And most of all, I am loved, and I am a blessing to those around me.
Remember that your personal self worth is much more important than what others say or think about you. So, assert your God-given veto powers.
