Make the Best of Everything

INTRODUCTION:

During Lakewood Church’s Sunday service following Veteran’s Day, Pastor Joel Osteen featured a Army veteran, JP Lane, as they continued to celebrate our awesome Veterans.

MOTIVATION:

During his conversation with Joel, JP shared with everyone that, July 2, 2011, he drove across an IED, while on a mission in the Middle East. His truck was blown in half and he sustained critical injuries, including losing a foot, and cuts over his entire body. Later, his other leg was amputated. Through it all, he said that his faith carried him through the tough times of recovery and beyond. Also, in spite of being told that he’d never talk again following a tracheotomy, he has emerged with a beautiful singing voice. So, he further inspired everyone by singing the song, Did You Know, which I believe he wrote.

JP is a prime example of making the best of everything. In spite of his challenges, he kept the faith. Now he is happily married and has found his calling as a shining example of seeing possibilities. Now, he is a motivational speaker and performer who travels near and far, telling his story and inspiring others. Life can throw us some serious curve balls. It is during those times that it’s easy to get discouraged and want to give up.

We’re encouraging our fourteen year old son during his current season of struggling with Algebra. This is a new season in his life because math has typically been one of his strongest subjects. So, we’re helping him through it by providing additional support in Algebra and reminding him that this difficulty won’t last forever. Although it seems like the end of the world to his fourteen year old self, unfortunately, this is light compared to some other life challenges that he could face in the future.

Remember that, as difficult as life sometimes gets, we must look for possibilities in every situation. When we seek possibilities, we’re making the best of the situation. Making the best of our current situation builds hope and anticipation for something better yet to come.

So, I just want to give you a glimmer of hope today…even if you are currently facing a life challenge. Know that you are loved. You are valuable, and you are an overcomer, not a victim.

Could you use some true motivation today? If so, check out Joel Osteen’s interview with JP Lane at Lakewood Church 11/14/2021 Service. It will bless your soul.
