INTRODUCTION:
Welcome to today’s motivational moment entitled, “Goals, Results, Success.” I’m Cynthia O.
MOTIVATION:
Have you ever tried to achieve success without setting goals? I have. Instead of starting with my desired outcome, then setting milestones to move me closer to my goal, l immediately started working. When I took that route, though, I constantly got distracted by the next shiny new object that caught my attention. The effects were sometimes devastating with missed deadlines, compromised quality of work, my less than confident self, and allowing others to high jack my time. I’ll bet you can relate. We all need a roadmap to keep our eye on the prize and to nudge us back on track. This will save us from unnecessary frustration and the likelihood of eventually giving up on our goal. So, I encourage you that if you find yourself failing repeatedly to realize your goals, let these three words sink deeply into your spirit…Goals, Results, and Success.
So, whether your goal is related to a work-related project, or a desire of your heart that comes from God, write your goal down. Then work backwards to list the steps, no matter how small, that you need to take to move closer to your goal bit by bit. These will be your action items. Keep them close by and read them at least once each day…preferably each morning, after your prayer and meditation time. Doing so will set the tone for your day and keep your mind focused on success and accomplishment. Commit to doing one thing related to your action items every day. Even if you don’t complete the entire action item, do something tangible related to it. You might even find that you need to break some of the action items into smaller, achievable steps.
Now, watch how quickly your results will add up. You know why, because you will have gained back the time that you wasted when you did not lay out your plan. Miraculously, you will achieve the success you’ve worked long and hard for. So, I’m inviting us all to become more intentional about how we navigate our life experiences because it’s all about the plan. The adage that, if you fail to plan, you plan to fail, is so true. I want to plan and succeed, because I’m tired of failing. How about you?
